We have a full programme of monthly domestic competitions, friendly team matches with other clubs and county-wide major competitions. Normally these take place on Thursdays throughout the year. To take part in any Competitions just enter your name on the entry sheets posted on our own notice board in the changing room.
Teams for the matches against other Clubs are chosen by the Seniors Captain on the basis of forming a balanced competitive team, whilst ensuring that all members that wish to do so get the
opportunity to play throughout the year. We currently play 15 other Clubs at home and away. In addition we play competitions with the Juniors and Ladies Sections on a regular annual basis.
Each year we make a direct financial contribution to the Club, partly due to the continued financial success of our two major Open Events, the Festival Trophy in July and the Anniversary Claret Jug in August.
We currently hold the Rothwell Shield after winning the Seniors Club Team Championship at Perranporth in August 2013. We also take part in the Seniors Open Claret Jug Team Championship and the “Harry Champion” Seniors Club Team Open Match Play Tournament which are both held at Polzeath each year. Since 2011 we have been proud to be one of only six Clubs from Cornwall invited to take part in the Veterans Inter-County Championships at Saunton, competing against Clubs from Devon and Somerset.
Members generally gather twice a week, on Monday and Friday mornings, and have roll-up time reserved on the tee-booking system for friendly 3 or 4-ball games. Just turn up and introduce yourself and within a matter of days you will have made a number of friends that you could well have for the rest of your life.
We have a strong social programme involving members' partners, including a Summer Buffet Party in May and an Annual Festive Dinner prior to Christmas. Both of these events are held in the clubhouse and are always well-supported.
